("OUD").

The Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (PRS) will provide direct
peer-to-peer support services to individuals who have substance
abuse or co-occurring disorders. As an advocate for patients, the
Certified Peer Recovery Specialist will be responsible for
providing essential expertise and consultation to the entire
multidisciplinary treatment team to promote a culture in which each
individual's treatment needs and preferences are recognized,
understood, respected, and integrated into treatment,
rehabilitation, and community self-help activities. The Certified
Peer Recovery Specialist will draw from his/her journey of recovery
to inspire hope and provide support to others who are facing
similar situations.
Essential Functions:
- Assists patients in developing problem-solving skills to
respond to challenging experiences in their recovery
- Models effective coping and self-help strategies and techniques
to individuals or groups of patients to overcome personal fears,
anxieties, urges, and triggers
- Assists/supports patients in daily decision making, resolution
of minor problems, and crisis intervention as necessary
- Assists patients in identifying their personal goals and
objectives for recovery and sobriety
- Assists clinic staff in a collaborative process of identifying
programs and environments that are conducive to recovery
- Assists patients in creating their personal recovery plans
- Meets with patients to provide advice and support in accordance
with treatment plans
- Assists/coordinates patient support groups on a regular
basis
- Assists patients in obtaining and utilizing clinic-based and
community-based services that support individual recovery
needs
- Assists patients by identifying community resources and
encouraging participation, to engage in healthy social activities,
employment opportunities or provide other assistance as needed
- Observes behaviors and evidence of general well-being and
discusses observations with the patient
- Assists patients in developing empowerment skills through
self-advocacy
- Ensures timely and appropriate documentation as required by
company, state, and federal policy

- Education/Licensure/Certification: Have a High School diploma
or equivalent with the state-required Peer Recovery certification.
